Human+AI Practice Pathway

Leading Institutional AI Transformation

Turn AI pressure into coordinated, human-centered institutional change through strategy, clarity, foresight, grassroots learning, and disciplined execution.

Six guided Studios · Designed for institution-supported leadership cohorts of up to 25 named participants

Lead the transformation as an institutional change effort

This pathway helps leadership teams move beyond isolated tools and disconnected pilots. Participants build a shared view of the institution’s transformation portfolio, adaptation gap, human readiness, strategic choices, and next 90 days.

  • Six sequenced, interactive Practice Studios
  • Facilitator-supported leadership discussion and application
  • A cumulative 90-day institutional AI action agenda
  • Private responses stored in each participant’s browser

Free foundation: From Prompting to Partnership is available before this pathway, but it is not one of the six required Studios. Facilitators may waive it when participants already demonstrate the foundational capabilities.

Who this pathway is designed for

Best fit

Presidents, provosts, cabinet leaders, deans, CIOs, teaching and learning leaders, and cross-functional teams responsible for institution-wide change.

How it differs

Choose this pathway when the unit of change is the institution. The other pathways concentrate on thinking practice, course design, competency development, or curriculum architecture.

How the cohort works

The pathway is designed for cabinet members, academic leaders, deans, and cross-functional teams responsible for coordinating AI strategy, adoption, governance, and organizational learning.

Leadership teams

One pathway, one shared action agenda

The Studios move from the strategic portfolio to execution: strengthening the core while building new capabilities, locating the adaptation gap, clarifying purpose, making possible futures tangible, and helping useful local experiments spread.

Participants apply every Studio to the same institution, division, or strategic portfolio. Their cumulative work becomes a 90-day action agenda with priorities, owners, risks, and learning measures.

Local facilitation

A convener for consequential leadership work

The institution identifies one primary facilitator. That person does not need to teach the six Studios; the interactive Practice Studios provide the core learning experience.

The facilitator keeps the cohort on schedule, hosts short conversations, helps the team reconcile cross-functional perspectives, monitors completion, and guides review of the final action agenda.

Facilitators see completion progress, not participants’ private Studio responses.

A sample eight-week schedule

This cadence combines self-paced leadership practice, short cohort conversations, and development of a 90-day institutional AI action agenda.

  1. Before launch

    Prepare the cohort

Identify the facilitator, enroll participants, confirm the institutional focus, and complete the free foundation when needed.

  2. Week 1

    The Dual Transformation Imperative

Define how the institution will strengthen its core mission while building future-facing capabilities in parallel.

  3. Week 2

    The Great Divide

Locate the adaptation gap in institutional speed, data, decision processes, and partnership capacity.

  4. Week 3

The Real Barrier to AI Integration

Clarify educational purpose, an AI partnership stance, and the faculty-development conditions required for change.

  5. Week 4

    The Clarity Crisis

Name the human problems worth solving before selecting tools, and build hands-on leadership intuition.

  6. Week 5

    Strategic Foresight for Higher Education

Use design fiction and a futures wheel to make change tangible and map second- and third-order consequences.

  7. Week 6

    The One Agent Problem

Identify promising grassroots experiments and design the leadership air cover that lets them spread responsibly.

  8. Week 7

    Build the 90-day agenda

Synthesize priorities, owners, dependencies, risks, and learning measures into one institutional action agenda.

  9. Week 8

    Review, commit, and launch

Pressure-test the agenda across functions, approve the next 90 days, and establish the first review point.

Estimated time: 75 minutes per week for Weeks 1–6. This includes approximately 45 minutes for the self-paced Studio plus a 30-minute cohort conversation. The pathway can stretch to 10–12 weeks when a cohort needs more time for institutional consultation or agenda development.
